A leading menswear brand, Ermenegildo Zegna brings fine Italian clothes to the rest of the world. The brand was born over 100 years ago in North Italy’s Trivero, and it continues to thrive even today. Despite becoming a global phenomenon, Zegna continues to be owned, managed and run by the family, with the fourth generation currently at the helm. Their stores in Dubai are as beautiful and luxurious as the clothes they make. Their flagship store in Dubai Mall is 580 square metres, making it their largest boutique in West Asia.
The designer’s idea was to create a storefront that would immediately draw every shopper’s attention. Our client wanted to inspire awe and intrigue people passing by with the most transparent shop front. We therefore needed to select a glass that offered maximum visibility but would still be easy to maintain and clean since it was in a public area.
Replacing the glass for the store in Dubai Mall was a big challenge as we had a limited timeframe to work around the mall’s opening times and minimise the time the store would be closed due to the installation works.
Additionally, we had to manage the logistical circumstances since the store was in the middle of the mall, and the great distance between the loading dock and the final installation site. While transporting the glass, we had to ensure that both the glass and mall property were not damaged.

The showroom was already functional and had Low Iron glass installed on the shop front as an initial solution. We were invited to the project in order to offer a solution with maximum visibility. So after looking at all possible options, we decided to propose our CLAROVIEW solution incorporating Guardian Clarity anti-reflective coated glass. Our CLAROVIEW bespoke solution was created using two panels of 6 mm Guardian Clarity single-side annealed glass, laminated with a 3.04 mm clear PVB interlayer. The Clarity anti-reflective glass coatings procured from Guardian provided a near-invisible finish. We achieved the client's anti-reflective requirements while using clear glass without any tint.
Although this project came with many challenges, we exceeded our client’s expectations. Our expert design team kicked off the project by studying the spatial requirements and planning every step whilst also allowing for contingency plans.
Our experienced team moved the glass from the docking bay to the shop without any incident. We relied on our state-of-the-art technology, including mini cranes and a robotic arm, to ensure proper installation of the panels. Our dedicated team on site supervised the entire process and made sure the glass was handled perfectly.
We successfully completed the works in just three days without any damage to the property or panels themselves. Despite Dubai Mall housing several luxury brands, the Zegna storefront easily stands out from the rest, thanks to the use of our clear anti-reflective glass. Most importantly, the client was thrilled with the entire experience and our ability to meet their performance and aesthetics needs while working around their timelines.
