The Els Club is West Asia’s premier golfing destination. One of the first fully operational facilities in Dubai’s Sports City, the club promises a memorable experience to every golfer who walks through its doors. Designed by US Open Champion Ernie Els, the course beautifully mirrors the city's desert landscape. An oasis of greenery, golfers can enjoy bespoke events and delicious food at the club.
As a world-class facility, The Els Club required fire-rated glass and glazing for the restaurants, especially the kitchen windows and viewing areas. Additionally, we had to use fire-rated windows across the facility. We had to ensure that every material used matched the UAE’s Civil Defence Department’s standards.
Dealing with fire-rated glass is always complicated as the glass cannot act in isolation. It needs to be fitted in a fire-safe system to work as intended. We had to work within a very short timeline while keeping the quality requirements of our premium client in mind.

As part of our endeavour to meet the client’s unique glass and glazing needs, we carefully considered our options. Finally, we decided to use 10 mm clear tempered glass for the project. Our choice of glass ensured that visibility was not obscured, especially for the kitchen viewing areas. To ensure that the products we delivered met the necessary guidelines, we tested complete systems with the Thomas Bell Wright Agency in the presence of the Intertek Certification Agency. We shipped the whole system to the site only after receiving a seal of approval from both agencies.
Despite the timelines being shorter than we would like, we scaled up our team and worked smarter. We relied on our highly experienced team to get the job done at a record pace.
