The Etihad Museum honours U.A.E.’s conception story. Located along the shore, in the exact location where the seven emirates first united, the building’s unique modern structure resembles the parchment of the country’s constitution. The building’s glass façade had to offer clear views without affecting the inside temperature or conditions.
The museum preserves several artefacts and jewels, which means the building has to maintain temperature and moisture levels across all eight pavilions. We used laminated glass panels that allow light to pass through while minimising the solar heat gain. Since the building lies on one of Dubai’s main roads, we also had to minimise the glare from the panels.
Manufacturing these panels was challenging, but we were able to use our cutting-edge technology to ensure that we met the performance requirements and minimised errors with thorough checks at every stage. We had to deliver and install the panels, another challenging feat, but one that we overcame thanks to our experienced team. Future Glass is proud to be a part of the team that worked on the museum that preserves the country's history.
